On the first day of the Water Splashing Festival (潑水節 or Pōshuǐ jié) the locals hold Dragon Boat races and preparation.  Here are images taken along the Mekong river in Jinghong, Yunnan, China during the 2013 festival.

I think one of the most fun festivals in China happens in the far southern rainforest of Xishuangbanna in Yunnan province. The Jinghong Dai Water Splashing Festival is a 3 day festival in mid April signifying the New Year for the Dai ethnic minority. This culminates in spreading blessings for a lucky and prosperous year ahead through the splashing, spraying, bucket pouring, etc of water on those you wish well.
